Round 17 of the 2024 AFL season saw the Brisbane Lions take on the Adelaide Crows at the Gabba. The Lions emerged victorious with a final score of 97 to 86, much to the delight of the home crowd. The atmosphere was electric, with fans on the edge of their seats throughout the match. The first quarter began with a bang for the Lions, as Eric Hipwood scored a behind just three minutes in. Cameron Rayner quickly followed up with two goals in quick succession, putting Brisbane in an early lead. Lachie Neale added another goal, making it 19-0 before the Crows responded. Ben Keays managed to score two goals for Adelaide, but Neale's second goal of the quarter ensured Brisbane ended the quarter with a 26-14 lead. The second quarter saw the Lions continue their dominance. Joe Daniher and Lachie Neale both scored early, extending Brisbane's lead. Ben Keays tried to keep the Crows in the game with another goal, but the Lions' relentless pressure resulted in goals from Josh Dunkley, Eric Hipwood, and Callum Ah Chee. Despite efforts from Taylor Walker and Elliott Himmelberg, the Lions went into halftime with a 54-39 lead. The third quarter was a critical period for both teams. Kai Lohmann scored early for Brisbane, but Adelaide fought back with goals from Elliott Himmelberg and Jake Soligo. However, the Lions weren't to be outdone. Cameron Rayner, Logan Morris, and Will Ashcroft all found the back of the net, pushing Brisbane's lead to 79-59 by the end of the quarter.
