Will Thursfield, a former Australian rules footballer, showcased his prowess on the field as a courageous backman for the Richmond Football Club in the Australian Football League (AFL). Known for his tenacity and ability to shut down some of the most prominent forwards in the game, Thursfield left a lasting impact during his time in the league. Hailing from Oxford, England, Thursfield made his mark in Australian football after moving to the country at the young age of 3. His journey in the sport began to flourish during his school years at Brighton Grammar, where he honed his skills on the field. His talent was evident as he represented the school in the 1st XVII and even played for the combined APS team against AGS, showcasing his early potential. Thursfield's career took a significant leap in 2004 when he donned the vice-captain role for the Sandringham Dragons Under 18s TAC Cup team, further solidifying his capabilities as a standout player. His AFL debut in 2005 against Sydney highlighted his defensive prowess, as he successfully limited key-forward Michael O'Loughlin to just 1 goal in a memorable match where the Tigers emerged victorious. After a successful stint in the AFL, Thursfield bid farewell to professional football at the end of the 2011 season, having played ten senior matches that year.
