Tom Hislop - Player Bio

Tom Hislop, a former professional Australian rules footballer, showcased his talent and resilience during his time playing for the Essendon Football Club and later the Richmond Football Club in the Australian Football League (AFL). His journey in the AFL began when he was drafted by Essendon in 2006 at pick 20. Making his debut in Round 14 against Geelong, Hislop immediately left an impact by scoring a goal. Unfortunately, a stress fracture hindered his progress, causing him to miss the remainder of the 2007 season. In 2008, Hislop faced another setback with a wrist injury but showed his determination by returning to the field with the VFL side, Bendigo Bombers. He eventually rejoined the senior team in round 7. Despite his efforts, Essendon delisted him at the end of the 2008 season. However, Hislop's resilience shone through as he was recruited by the Richmond Football Club in the 2008 national draft. Hislop's time at Richmond saw him play fifteen senior games over two seasons before being delisted in October 2010. Nevertheless, he made a comeback and played his first game of the 2011 season against the Sydney Swans. Following his AFL career, Tom Hislop continued his passion for the sport by signing with the Aberfeldie Football Club in the Essendon District Football League, where he played alongside his younger brothers, Jacob and Zachary, showcasing his love for the game and commitment to his family.
