Tom Bellchambers - Player Bio
Tom Bellchambers, a former professional Australian rules footballer, made his mark playing for the Essendon Football Club in the Australian Football League (AFL). Born on July 9, 1989, Bellchambers started his journey with the Tasmanian Devils in the TAC Cup before being drafted with pick 8 in the 2007 pre-season draft. His AFL debut came in Round 11 of the 2008 season against Hawthorn, where he showcased his skills as a versatile player. Throughout his career, Bellchambers displayed exceptional talent as a Ruckman and Forward for Essendon. However, his career faced a setback when he, along with other players, was embroiled in a doping scandal related to the use of a banned substance during the 2012 season. Despite initial verdicts, a subsequent appeal led to a suspension that saw him miss the entire 2016 AFL season. Despite the challenges, Bellchambers remained resilient and dedicated to his sport. In a surprising turn of events, he transitioned to professional boxing after retiring from AFL in 2020. His boxing debut against Cameron Mooney in Melbourne saw him victorious with a knockout in the 3rd round, marking a successful start to his boxing career in the heavyweight division. Bellchambers' determination and adaptability have been evident in both his football and boxing pursuits, showcasing his versatility and competitive spirit in the sporting arena.
