Thomas Young - Player Bio
Tom Young, a talented Australian rules footballer, has left an indelible mark on the field during his career in the Australian Football League. Born on 26th April 1992, Young's journey in the AFL commenced with the Collingwood Football Club before he transitioned to the Western Bulldogs. Hailing from the Wollondilly Junior Football Club near Bowral in New South Wales, Young's passion for the game became evident early on. His skills caught the eye of selectors, leading to his representation of the NSW/ACT Rams at the AFL Under 18 Championships in 2009. Notably, he clinched the Sydney AFL Rising Star award while playing for the Sydney University Australian National Football Club. Young's dedication and prowess saw him named as Collingwood's finest player in the reserves team of the Victorian Football League (VFL) in 2010. This accomplishment culminated in his elevation to Collingwood's senior list in the 2010 AFL Draft, marking a significant milestone in his career. Debuting in Round 22 of the 2011 AFL season against the Brisbane Lions at the MCG, Young showcased his defensive skills with finesse. His journey in the AFL continued as he was traded to the Western Bulldogs during the 2012 trade period, bringing his talents to a new arena. Despite his departure from the Western Bulldogs at the end of the 2014 AFL season, Tom Young's impact on the field and his contributions to both Collingwood and the Western Bulldogs remain etched in the annals of Australian Football history.
