Sam Dunell - Player Bio
Sam Dunell, born on February 21, 1990, is a seasoned Australian rules football player with an impressive career. Beginning his journey with the St Kilda Football Club in the Australian Football League (AFL), Dunell later transitioned to playing for Williamstown in the Victorian Football League (VFL) from 2015 to 2019. During his time with Williamstown, he showcased his talent in 100 games, demonstrating his prowess by scoring 158 goals. Dunell's remarkable skills were further highlighted when he represented Victoria against South Australia in 2016 and earned a spot in the VFL Team of the Year twice. In 2015, he clinched the second position in the VFL Liston trophy and culminated the season with a triumphant premiership victory against Box Hill at Docklands. His exceptional performance on the field led to him being regarded as one of the top players in the VFL. Throughout his tenure at Williamstown, Dunell consistently stood out, being the Club's leading goalkicker in both 2015 and 2016, with 41 and 37 goals respectively. Additionally, he secured the runner-up position in the Club's best and fairest award in 2015 and attained the third spot in 2016. In recognition of his contributions and dedication, Dunell was granted life membership in 2019 following his final game for Williamstown in the grand defeat against Richmond.
