Nathan Wright - Player Bio
Nathan Wright, a skilled Australian rules footballer, made his mark in the Australian Football League (AFL) playing for the St Kilda Football Club. Born on 16 February 1994, Wright began his professional career after being selected as St Kilda's top choice, number 24 overall, in the 2012 AFL Draft. Hailing from the Dandenong Stingrays and a graduate of the AIS-AFL Academy program, Wright showcased his talents on the field. Wright's AFL debut came in a Round 3 match against Greater Western Sydney, where he displayed his prowess and potential. However, his journey faced a setback during his fifth AFL game against Carlton, where he unfortunately suffered a broken jaw due to a bump by Eddie Betts. Despite Betts' apology, the AFL Match Review Panel deemed the incident as reckless rough conduct, resulting in Betts being suspended for three matches. Throughout his career, Wright faced challenges with injuries, which impacted his game time. Despite this, his dedication and passion for the sport remained unwavering. After managing five games in his final two years, Wright was eventually delisted by St Kilda at the end of 2018. Nathan Wright's story serves as a testament to the resilience and perseverance required in the competitive world of Australian football. His journey, marked by highs and lows, showcases the determination and commitment needed to excel in the AFL arena.
