Nathan Ablett - Player Bio
Nathan Ablett, a former Australian rules football player, made a mark in the Australian Football League (AFL) during his career. Born on December 13, 1985, Nathan is part of the renowned Ablett football family, being the youngest son of the legendary Gary Ablett Sr. and the younger brother of the illustrious Gary Ablett Jr. Standing tall at 1.98 meters and weighing 96 kilograms, Nathan primarily played as a key forward during his time in the AFL. Despite being a standout junior player, he decided to steer clear of the TAC Cup to avoid the intense media scrutiny associated with his famous father and brother's careers. Instead, he honed his skills by playing in country leagues before eventually joining Geelong, his father's former club, through the father-son rule in the 2004 AFL Draft. Nathan's AFL journey commenced in 2005, and he played a pivotal role in Geelong's Premiership triumph in 2007. However, after the season, he bid adieu to professional football, expressing a waning desire to continue at the elite level. In a surprising turn of events, Nathan returned briefly to the AFL in 2011, this time donning the Gold Coast Suns jersey alongside his brother Gary. Despite a short stint that included just two games, Nathan's contribution to the sport remains noteworthy. Currently, Nathan Ablett plies his trade with the Werribee Tigers, showcasing his football prowess at a different level. His legacy as a talented forward and his unique journey in the AFL continue to inspire fans and aspiring players alike.
