Mitchell Clisby - Player Bio
Mitchell Clisby, born on January 5, 1990, is a skilled Australian rules footballer known for his time with the Melbourne Football Club in the Australian Football League (AFL). Hailing from North Adelaide, Clisby was recruited by Melbourne in the 2013 Rookie Draft as the 19th pick. His AFL debut came in round 13 of the same year against St Kilda at the iconic Melbourne Cricket Ground. During his debut season, Clisby showcased his talent by participating in eight games for Melbourne. However, in the following year of 2014, he faced a challenging period as he was not selected for any senior matches. Consequently, he was delisted by the club at the end of the season. In a surprising turn of events in February 2015, Clisby received a short-term contract from Essendon to participate in the 2015 NAB Challenge as a "top-up" player. This opportunity arose due to 26 Essendon players withdrawing from the NAB Challenge amidst the ongoing Essendon Football Club supplements controversy. Standing at 182 cm (6 ft 0 in) and weighing 75 kg (165 lb), Clisby primarily plays as a defender, showcasing his versatility and defensive prowess on the field. His journey in the AFL reflects his resilience and determination in the face of challenges, making him a notable figure in Australian football.
