Mitch Hannan, also known by the nickname "The Shlong," is a skilled former Australian rules football player who made his mark in the Australian Football League (AFL) with both the Western Bulldogs and Melbourne clubs. Standing tall at 1.90 meters and weighing 87 kilograms, Hannan showcased his versatility by excelling as a forward and in the midfield positions. Despite facing setbacks in his junior career and not making it to the TAC Cup, Hannan's determination led him to join the St Bernard's Football Club in the Victorian Amateur Football Association (VAFA) where he achieved great success. He notably secured a premiership title and was named best on ground in the 2015 VAFA Grand Final. His exceptional performances continued as he transitioned to Footscray in the Victorian Football League (VFL), where he clinched another premiership the following year. Hannan's outstanding contributions in the VAFA and VFL caught the attention of the Melbourne Football Club, which drafted him in 2016. He made his AFL debut in the opening round of the 2017 season and went on to showcase his talents on the field. Hannan later joined the Western Bulldogs and continued to leave his mark on the game until his retirement at the end of the 2023 AFL season.
