Michael Coad - Player Bio
Michael Coad, a seasoned Australian rules football player, made his mark in the Australian Football League (AFL) with the Gold Coast team. Hailing from the South Australian National Football League (SANFL) club Sturt, Coad was selected by Gold Coast as a mature age rookie in the 2010 AFL Rookie draft. His talent and dedication quickly earned him a spot on Gold Coast's senior list for their inaugural season. Coad's AFL debut came in round 3 of the 2011 AFL season when he faced off against the Western Bulldogs. Unfortunately, his promising start was marred by a serious hamstring injury in only his second game, forcing him to sit out the remainder of the 2011 season. Despite this setback, Coad's resilience and determination shone through as he was delisted by Gold Coast in 2011 but then re-drafted in the 2012 Rookie draft. After playing one more AFL match for Gold Coast, Coad decided to return to his roots at Sturt in the South Australian Football League in 2013. His exceptional skills and leadership qualities did not go unnoticed, as he was soon appointed as the Captain of the Sturt Football Club. Coad eventually bid farewell to his illustrious senior football career in 2015, leaving behind a legacy of hard work, perseverance, and passion for the game.
