Matthew Eagles, a seasoned Australian rules footballer, hailing originally from South Australia, has left an indelible mark on the field. With roots in supporting Port Adelaide, he transitioned to Queensland where he showcased his skills with the Yeronga Football Club in the QAFL. Beyond the football arena, Eagles ventured into the landscaping business, displaying versatility and entrepreneurial spirit. Eagles' journey to prominence took an intriguing turn when he emerged victorious in season two of The Recruit, a reality TV series. Subsequently, he plied his trade with North Ballarat in the VFL before donning the Brisbane Lions jersey in the NEAFL. Initially a ruckman, Eagles seamlessly transitioned to a defensive role, excelling notably in the NEAFL Grand Final with an impressive 17 intercept possessions among his 18 disposals. Making his AFL debut in round 7 of the 2018 season against Collingwood, Eagles, at 28, etched his name in history as the oldest league debutant for the Brisbane Lions.
