Matthew Shaw, a former professional Australian rules footballer, showcased his skills with both the Gold Coast and Carlton Football Clubs in the Australian Football League (AFL) from 2011 to 2018. Hailing from the Dandenong Stingrays, Shaw made his debut in the 2011 season against Melbourne, marking the beginning of a promising career. Growing up, Shaw honed his football prowess at the Chelsea & Carrum Junior Football Clubs, displaying early signs of his talent. Additionally, his passion extended to cricket, where he played for the Carrum Cricket Club while attending Mordialloc College. It is evident that Shaw's dedication to sports was ingrained from a young age. Despite being delisted by Gold Coast in 2017, Shaw's determination led him to be rookie listed by Carlton in the 2018 draft. Although he played only two games for Carlton, his commitment to the game remained unwavering. Subsequently, Shaw found a new home with the Southport Sharks in the NEAFL after parting ways with Carlton. Standing tall at 187 cm and weighing 71 kg, Shaw's role as a defender exemplified his versatility on the field.
