Mathew Stokes, affectionately known as "Stokesy," is a retired Australian rules footballer who left an indelible mark on the Geelong Football Club and the Essendon Football Club in the Australian Football League (AFL). Born on November 22, 1984, Stokes hails from Northern Territory, Australia, and began his football journey with the Palmerston Magpies in the NTFL before moving on to play for Woodville-West Torrens in the SANFL. Standing at 176 cm (5 ft 9 in) and weighing 75 kg (165 lb), Stokes showcased his versatility on the field, excelling as both a forward and midfielder. His skill and dedication earned him a spot in the AFL when he was selected as the 61st pick in the 2005 National Draft. From 2006 to 2015, Stokes donned the blue and white stripes of Geelong, making significant contributions to the team's success.
