Mark LeCras, a former Australian rules footballer, made a significant impact during his time with the West Coast Eagles in the Australian Football League (AFL). Born on 30 August 1986, LeCras excelled as a small forward, showcasing his versatility by occasionally playing in the midfield as well. Coming from a footballing family background, with his father having played for East Fremantle in the West Australian Football League (WAFL) and his brother suiting up for North Melbourne in the AFL, LeCras had football in his blood. His cousins also left their mark on the game by playing senior football in the WAFL and AFL. Debuting for West Coast in the late 2005 season, LeCras truly shone in 2009 and 2010, kicking 58 and 63 goals respectively, leading the club's goalkicking in both stellar seasons. His outstanding performances earned him the club best and fairest award in 2010, along with a spot in the prestigious All-Australian team. LeCras' legacy at West Coast is cemented by breaking Phil Matera's club record for the most career goals by a small forward in 2017. Additionally, he joined an elite group of players by becoming just the third West Coast player to reach 400 career goals, following in the footsteps of Peter Sumich and Josh Kennedy. After retiring from professional football, LeCras transitioned into a role as a coastal reporter for Seven News Perth, showcasing his versatility and adaptability beyond the football field. Mark LeCras' impact on the game and his subsequent career transition serve as a testament to his talent and dedication to the sport.
