Levi Greenwood - Player Bio
Levi Greenwood, a seasoned Australian rules footballer, made his mark in the Australian Football League (AFL) during his career with North Melbourne from 2009 to 2014 and later with Collingwood from 2015 to 2021. Hailing from the coastal town of Port Neill on the Eyre Peninsula, Greenwood's journey to AFL stardom began in his teenage years when he relocated to Whyalla. With his roots firmly planted in South Australia, Greenwood honed his skills at the North Whyalla Football Club before making his way to the Port Adelaide Magpies in 2005. Despite his young age, Greenwood's talent shone through as he played in the under-17s and under-19s teams before swiftly transitioning to the senior level in the SANFL in 2007 at just eighteen years old. Greenwood's prowess on the field caught the eye of North Melbourne, who secured him in the 2007 AFL National draft as the 32nd overall pick. Known for his versatility, Greenwood predominantly made his mark in the midfield, showcasing his exceptional skills and tactical awareness. Throughout his career, Greenwood's dedication and hard work were evident as he consistently delivered standout performances. Notably, in 2014, he finished equal second in the best and fairest awards before making a pivotal move to Collingwood Magpies. After a successful tenure with Collingwood, Greenwood made the difficult decision to retire from football in June 2021 due to complications arising from concussions sustained during his illustrious career. Despite his retirement, Levi Greenwood's legacy in Australian football remains a testament to his skill, determination, and unwavering passion for the game.
