Hailing from Kalgoorlie, Western Australia, Horsley has showcased his skills with various teams throughout his career. Starting off with the Kalgoorlie City Football Club in the Goldfields Football League (GFL), Horsley then moved on to play for the Subiaco Football Club in the West Australian Football League (WAFL). It was during his time with Subiaco that he caught the attention of many, finishing as the runner-up in the 2011 Sandover Medal, a testament to his exceptional abilities on the field. In 2012, Horsley was drafted by the Gold Coast Football Club in the Australian Football League (AFL), demonstrating his potential at the professional level. Making his debut in round five of the 2012 season, he contributed his skills to the team, playing a total of 14 games before parting ways with the club at the end of the 2013 season.
