Josh Toy - Player Bio
Josh Toy, a former professional Australian rules footballer, made his mark in the Australian Football League (AFL) playing for the Gold Coast Football Club. Born on 18 April 1992, Toy was a key player for the Gold Coast team during their inaugural season. Hailing from Victoria, Toy started his football journey with the Calder Cannons in the TAC Cup before being recruited by the Gold Coast Football Club as one of their underage prospects. Standing at 184 cm (6 ft 0 in) and weighing 83 kg (183 lb), Toy primarily played as a midfielder, showcasing his skills in the heart of the action on the field. Despite his promising start with the Suns, Toy faced a setback when he was diagnosed with a heart condition known as congenital heart block. This condition impacted his endurance and aerobic capacity, but fortunately didn't pose a threat to his overall health. During the 2012 Trade Period, Toy expressed his desire to return to his home state of Victoria. However, after unsuccessful attempts to secure a trade deal, Toy was delisted by the Gold Coast Football Club in late October 2012. Despite training with Richmond and being considered by several other Victorian clubs, Toy was not selected in either the pre-season or rookie drafts. Although his professional football career may have been brief, Josh Toy's journey in the AFL serves as a testament to his resilience and passion for the game.
