Josh Thomas - Player Bio
Josh Thomas, a former Australian rules footballer, made a significant impact during his time with the Collingwood Football Club in the Australian Football League (AFL). Hailing from Queensland, Thomas showcased his talent early on, representing Queensland in the 2009 AFL National Under 18 Championships. In 2009, Thomas was selected by Collingwood in the 2009 AFL Draft with the 75th pick. Despite playing 11 games for Gold Coast in the TAC Cup that year and receiving a contract offer from them, Thomas opted to pursue his AFL dream with Collingwood, eager to immerse himself in the elite football environment. However, Thomas faced a challenging period in his career when he and teammate Lachlan Keeffe tested positive for clenbuterol in 2015. Both players accepted provisional suspensions before Thomas ultimately served a two-year ban from AFL competition. During this time, Thomas worked as an Uber driver in Queensland, demonstrating resilience and determination in the face of adversity. Despite the setback, Thomas's talent and dedication shone through, and he was re-drafted by Collingwood through the rookie draft in 2015. Over the years, Thomas continued to contribute as a midfielder for Collingwood until his retirement from football in October 2021, leaving behind a legacy of perseverance and passion for the game.
