Josh Clayton - Player Bio
Josh Clayton, a former professional Australian rules footballer, showcased his versatility and talent during his career with the Brisbane Lions in the Australian Football League (AFL). Born on 17 January 1996, he had the advantage of being the son of former Fitzroy player and Gold Coast list manager, Scott Clayton, allowing him to be drafted under the father-son rule. Clayton's journey to the AFL began with his impressive performances for the Sandringham Dragons in the TAC Cup and representing Vic Metro in the 2014 AFL Under 18 Championships. Following his drafting, he honed his skills playing for Brisbane's reserves team in the North East Australian Football League. Despite showing glimpses of his potential, his inconsistency limited his AFL appearances to just two matches before being delisted at the conclusion of the 2017 season. Standing tall at 191 cm (6 ft 3 in) and weighing 86 kg (190 lb), Clayton primarily operated in the midfield and half-forward positions during his time with the Brisbane Lions. His debut in the AFL came in Round 22, 2016, in a match against Geelong at the Gabba. Throughout his tenure with the club from 2015 to 2017, Clayton strived to make his mark on the field, contributing to the team's efforts. Despite his professional career coming to a close, Josh Clayton's dedication and contributions to Australian football have left an indelible mark on the sport.
