Jonathan Giles - Player Bio
Jonathan Giles, known affectionately as "Joffa," is a retired Australian rules footballer who left a significant mark in the Australian Football League (AFL). Born on January 8, 1988, Giles began his professional career with the Port Adelaide Football Club in 2006. Despite his time with Port Adelaide, he did not have the opportunity to compete in a senior game for the team. However, Giles found his stride when he joined the Greater Western Sydney Giants, an expansion club in the AFL. His debut in the 2012 season showcased his talent and dedication to the sport. Following his successful stint with Greater Western Sydney, Giles moved to the Essendon Football Club for the 2015 season, where he continued to impress fans and critics alike with his skills as a Ruckman. In 2016, Giles made the move to the West Coast Eagles, where he continued to showcase his prowess on the field. Unfortunately, Giles was forced to retire from professional football due to a degenerative knee condition after two years with the West Coast Eagles. Despite this setback, his contribution to the AFL is undeniable, having played a total of 63 games throughout his career. Standing tall at 201 cm (6 ft 7 in) and weighing 101 kg (223 lb), Giles' legacy in Australian football remains a testament to his hard work, perseverance, and passion for the game.
