Jarryd Blair - Player Bio
Jarryd Blair, born on April 14, 1990, is a former Australian rules footballer known for his time at the Collingwood Football Club in the Australian Football League (AFL). Despite his stature at 174 centimeters, Blair made a significant impact as a quick and agile wingman/half forward flanker during his AFL career. Blair's debut in round 14 of the 2010 season against West Coast showcased his potential. In that game, he accumulated 16 disposals, took 2 marks, and made 5 tackles, contributing to Collingwood's 83-point victory. His skills were further highlighted in subsequent matches, notably scoring 2 goals against Port Adelaide and delivering a standout performance with 27 disposals and 2 goals against Essendon. A memorable moment in Blair's career came during the 2010 AFL Grand Final, where he played a crucial role in Collingwood's Premiership victory. His talent was acknowledged with a Brownlow Medal vote for his exceptional performance. Notably, in 2011, Blair achieved a career-high of 5 goals in a game against Carlton and followed up with another impressive 4-goal display against Port Adelaide later that year. Outside of his football career, Blair comes from a sporting background, being the nephew of Morningside premiership coach John Blair and the grandson of former Hawthorn player John O'Mahony. After his time with Collingwood, Blair continued his football journey with Port Melbourne in the VFL. Despite being delisted by Collingwood in 2018, Jarryd Blair's impact and contributions to Australian football remain a significant part of his legacy in the sport.
