Harley Balic - Player Bio
Harley Balic, a talented Australian rules footballer, left a mark in the sport during his career. Born in Sandringham, Victoria, Balic's journey in the Australian Football League (AFL) began when he was drafted by the Fremantle Football Club in the 2015 national draft. Standing tall at 187 cm and weighing 86 kg, Balic primarily played as a midfielder, showcasing his skills and prowess on the field. His debut in the AFL came in 2017 when Fremantle faced the Western Bulldogs at Domain Stadium. Despite his promising start, Balic faced personal challenges that led to him taking indefinite leave from the sport. Subsequently, he requested a trade back to Victoria and joined Melbourne in 2017. However, at the young age of 21, Balic decided to retire from professional football in 2018, citing a loss of passion for the game. Balic's impact on the sport was evident, especially during his time with the Peel Thunder premiership team in 2016, where he played a crucial role in their success in the WAFL Grand Final. His contributions to the clubs he represented and his undeniable talent on the field will always be remembered by fans and fellow players alike. Tragically, Balic passed away on 9 January 2022, just four days after celebrating his 25th birthday, leaving behind a legacy that will forever be cherished in the Australian football community.
