Daniel Talia - Player Bio
Daniel Talia, affectionately known as "Tals," is a former Australian rules football player who made his mark in the Australian Football League (AFL) with the Adelaide Football Club. Talia, born on October 2, 1991, entered the AFL scene after being selected as the 13th pick in the 2009 National Draft from the Calder Cannons. Standing tall at 197 cm (6 ft 6 in) and weighing 98 kg (216 lb), Talia specialized as a key defender during his tenure with the Adelaide Football Club from 2010 to 2021. His debut in the league occurred in Round 15 of the 2011 season, where Adelaide faced off against Sydney at AAMI Stadium. Daniel Talia's football prowess runs in the family as he is the great-grandson of former Footscray player Arthur Stevens and the grandson of Harvey Stevens, who was part of Footscray's triumphant 1954 VFL Grand Final team. Notably, his younger brother, Michael Talia, also ventured into AFL, playing for the Western Bulldogs before transitioning to the Sydney Swans post the 2015 season. In 2012, Talia's exceptional skills and dedication to the sport were recognized when he clinched the prestigious AFL Rising Star award, cementing his status as one of the league's most promising young talents. Despite his retirement, Talia's impact on the field and his family's football legacy continue to resonate within the AFL community.
