Connors' exceptional performance in the 2006 TAC Cup earned him a spot in the Team of the Year and the prestigious All-Australian team after representing Victoria Country at the National Under 18 Championships. Selected as the 58th overall pick by the Richmond Football Club in the 2006 AFL national draft, Daniel Connors quickly made an impact.
