Colin Garland - Player Bio
Colin Garland, a former professional Australian rules footballer, made a significant impact during his time at the Melbourne Football Club in the Australian Football League (AFL). Hailing from Tasmania, Garland began his football journey with North Hobart in the SFL before catching the eye of recruiters and being drafted by the Demons from the Tassie Mariners in the 2006 AFL Draft at pick No. 46. Known for his athleticism and versatility as a key position player, Garland proudly donned the No. 20 guernsey for the Demons. He earned recognition for his stellar performances in the backline, receiving a NAB Rising Star nomination in round 14 of the 2008 season. Despite facing challenges such as a knee injury that sidelined him for an entire season, Garland's passion for the game remained unwavering. Following his retirement from professional football in October 2017, he continued to contribute to the sport by returning to North Hobart during the 2018 TSL season and taking on roles as a player and assistant coach at the Clarence Football Club in the TSL.
