Ben Howlett - Player Bio
Ben Howlett, a seasoned Australian rules footballer, made his mark on the field with his exceptional skills and dedication to the game. Born on October 21, 1988, Howlett embarked on his professional football journey when he was selected by the Essendon Football Club in the 2010 rookie draft at the age of 21. Hailing from Peel Thunder in the West Australian Football League, Howlett's talent shone bright as he claimed the best and fairest award in his final season with the club. Despite facing challenges along the way, including being involved in a controversial doping scandal along with his teammates, Howlett displayed resilience and perseverance. After initially being cleared of wrongdoing, a subsequent appeal led to a suspension that concluded in November 2016. Throughout this ordeal, Howlett remained steadfast in his commitment to the sport. Following his time with Essendon, Howlett returned to his roots by signing with Peel Thunder in the WAFL for the 2018 season. In a testament to his leadership qualities and on-field prowess, Howlett was appointed as the captain of the club in 2019, succeeding a respected figure in the team. As Howlett celebrated his 100th game for Peel Thunder in the 2021 season, he made the decision to retire from WAFL footy at the end of that year. His legacy as a dedicated midfielder and forward will be remembered by fans and teammates alike, showcasing his enduring impact on the field and in the hearts of those who have had the privilege to witness his talent.
