Andrew Embley, fondly known as Embers, Whack, or Tickets, is a former Australian rules footballer renowned for his exceptional skills and contributions to the West Coast Eagles in the Australian Football League (AFL). Born on 27 June 1981 in Perth, Western Australia, Embley began his football journey with Swan Districts in the West Australian Football League (WAFL) before being drafted by West Coast with the 57th pick in the 1998 National Draft. Making his AFL debut in 1999, Embley swiftly made a name for himself, earning an AFL Rising Star nomination in the following year. His talent and dedication led him to represent Australia in the International Rules Series in 2004. Embley's leadership qualities were evident as he served as one of West Coast's vice-captains from 2004 to 2006. However, Embley truly etched his name in AFL history during the 2006 AFL Grand Final, where he played a pivotal role in West Coast's triumph over Sydney. His outstanding performance on the field earned him the prestigious Norm Smith Medal, recognizing him as the best player of the match. After a remarkable career spanning 250 games for the West Coast Eagles, Embley bid farewell to professional football at the end of the 2013 season, leaving a lasting legacy. Standing tall at 189 cm and weighing 91 kg, Embley primarily excelled as a wingman, showcasing his versatility and prowess on the field throughout his illustrious career.
