Alex Browne - Player Bio
Alex Browne, a seasoned Australian rules footballer, was born on 9 August 1992. He began his professional career playing for the Essendon Football Club in the Australian Football League (AFL). Hailing from a football family background, with his father, Murray Browne, having played for Collingwood and Fitzroy in the 1980s, Alex Browne has football in his blood. Starting his journey with the Oakleigh Chargers in the TAC Cup, Browne was drafted by Essendon in the 2010 national draft as pick 48. He made his debut in round 11 of the 2011 AFL season against Melbourne at the iconic Melbourne Cricket Ground. Despite his talent and dedication to the sport, Browne faced challenges when he, along with 33 other Essendon players, was embroiled in a controversy involving the use of a banned performance-enhancing substance during the 2012 season. After a legal battle, he was suspended for two years, with the suspension ending in November 2016. Following his suspension, Browne signed with the Northern Blues in the Victorian Football League for the 2016 season, looking to make a comeback in 2017. With his experience, resilience, and determination, Alex Browne continues to leave a mark in the Australian football landscape.
