Alec Waterman - Player Bio
Alec Waterman, a talented Australian rules footballer, has shown resilience and determination throughout his career. Born on August 19, 1996, Waterman's football journey has been marked by challenges and successes. Initially selected by West Coast as a father-son pick in the 2014 AFL draft, Waterman faced setbacks due to health issues, including glandular fever and post-viral fatigue, which led to his delisting in 2016. However, he did not let these obstacles define him. After a remarkable 2020 season with WAFL club Claremont, where he topped the goal-kicking charts, Waterman caught the attention of Essendon. Impressing during the 2021 preseason, Waterman earned a spot with Essendon as a pre-season supplemental selection. He made a memorable debut for the Bombers in round 3, 2021 against St Kilda, contributing 12 disposals and 2 goals in a significant victory for the team. His performance solidified his place in the squad, leading to a one-year extension for the 2022 season. Waterman's football lineage is noteworthy, being the son of former West Coast premiership player Chris Waterman and the brother of current West Coast Eagles player Jake Waterman. With his determination, skill, and family legacy, Alec Waterman continues to make his mark in Australian football.
