Aaron Young - Player Bio
Aaron Young, a seasoned Australian rules footballer, has left an indelible mark on the field throughout his career. Born on December 6, 1992, Young began his professional journey with the Port Adelaide Football Club after being drafted as pick number 36 in the 2010 national draft. His initial years in the AFL saw him excel as a substitute player, utilizing his exceptional height and pace to outmaneuver opponents when he entered the game fresh and ready. In 2016, Young had a breakout season, showcasing his prowess by playing 21 games and kicking an impressive 37 goals, just one goal shy of Port's leading goal kicker at the time. Despite facing challenges in securing regular game time in 2017, Young's talent shone through, leading him to be traded to the Gold Coast Football Club. During his debut season with the Suns, Young displayed his skills by playing 22 games and scoring 20 goals. However, an injury-ridden 2019 season led to his delisting. Undeterred, Young continued his football journey by joining the Aspley Football Club in the NEAFL in 2020 before signing with SANFL club North Adelaide in November of the same year. In a remarkable turn of events in 2022, Young's dedication and talent culminated in him winning the prestigious Magarey Medal as the Best & Fairest player in the SANFL. Finishing with 23 votes, just one vote ahead of his closest competitor, Young's achievement solidifies his status as a standout player in the league. Aaron Young's resilience, skill, and commitment to the game make him a true asset to the Australian football landscape.
