Game Highlights
Game Review
Round 15 of the 2024 AFL season saw the Fremantle Dockers host the Gold Coast Suns at Optus Stadium. The Dockers emerged victorious with a final score of 85 to 65, much to the delight of their home crowd. The game was a thrilling contest, showcasing high energy, strategic plays, and standout performances from key players on both sides. The first quarter kicked off with the Gold Coast Suns taking an early lead, thanks to goals from Sam Day and Jack Lukosius within the first eight minutes. However, the Dockers were quick to respond. Bailey Banfield and Jye Amiss managed to narrow the gap with behinds, and Hayden Young and Josh Treacy followed up with goals to put Fremantle ahead by the end of the quarter, 15-12. In the second quarter, Fremantle began to dominate. Minairo Frederick scored a goal just a minute in, setting the tone for the Dockers' offensive onslaught. Caleb Serong, Josh Treacy, and Sam Sturt added to the tally, pushing the Dockers' lead further. Despite a goal from Sam Day and a behind from Ben Ainsworth, the Suns struggled to keep pace. By halftime, Fremantle was comfortably ahead, 43-20. The third quarter saw Fremantle continue their momentum. Goals from Andrew Brayshaw and Sean Darcy extended their lead. Although the Suns managed to score through David Swallow and Jack Lukosius, it wasn't enough to close the widening gap. Sam Sturt's goal near the end of the quarter solidified Fremantle's commanding position, with the score at 72-38. In the final quarter, the Gold Coast Suns made a valiant effort to claw back into the game. Sam Day, David Swallow, and Brandon Ellis each scored goals, but Fremantle's defense held strong. Hayden Young and Jaeger O'Meara's goals ensured the Dockers maintained their lead, eventually sealing the game at 85-65. ...
